New Vehicle for Diane - YEAH!

So this is the new vehicle, or "crossover". That is what they are calling them, instead of car or truck or SUV, because you don't really know what to call them. They kind of look like eggs to me. We didn't dare bring the "95" Explorer up here. It might just fall apart when winter comes, especially with the 170,000 miles on it, but you know, it still runs well. I needed heated seats and that was the deal for coming up here, heated seats and underground parking. I hate scraping windows in the winter.

Great Recipe

Recipe for Stir Fried Orange Pork. It is out of a cook book, Cooking for Two.

  • 1-1/2 tbls peanut oil
  • 3 tbls matchstick sized pieces orange peel
  • 4 dried red chiles or 1/4 tsp crushed red pepper
  • 1 garlic clove slivered
  • 8 oz center cut boneless pork chops, sliced (1/8 inch)
  • 2 c broccoli florets
  • 1/2 c reduced sodium chicken broth
  • 1/4 c orange juice
  • 1 tbls soy sauce
  • 1 tbls sugar
  • 1 tbls cornstarch
  • 1 tbls water
  1. Heat wok or large skillet over medium heat until hot. Add oil; heat until hot.
  2. Add orange peel, chiles and garlic. Cook 3 min. stirring frequently.
  3. Increase heat to high; add pork. Cook 1 - 2 min. or just until pork loses raw pink color.
  4. Stir in broccoli ; cook 1 min.
  5. Stir in broth, orange juice soy sauce and sugar; cover and cook 1 min.
  6. Meanwhile, in a small bowl, whisk together cornstarch and water; stir into sauce. Cook 30-60 seconds more until thickened, stirring constantly.
  7. Remove and discard chiles before serving.
